Al's Run!

A beautiful mid-September morning in the 60's sun shinning and a light breeze made for a fun race this morning! There were over 2800 runners out there running for a great cause!  Al's Run is an 8k (4.97 miles) that starts on Marquette campus then head east towards the lake and north on Prospect.  With a a big down hill coming down Lafayette Hill the runners turn onto Lincoln Memorial and make their way back to Summerfest grounds.  There is great support all along the course with band out there playing music!  We had two UWM Tri Club team members rocking the black and yellow argyle, Adam Schneider and Ryan Schmeling.  Adam finished 9th out of 207 men 19-37th over all and went under 30 min with a time of 29:50 (6:00 pace)!  Ryan came in at 34:26 (6:56 pace) to finish 19th out of 184 in the 25-29 age group and 156 overall!  Way to go guys!  Next team race is the Lakefront Discovery Run, lets keep up the good work!

2013 Season Update

Better late than never!

We had four guys sporting the argyle in Elkhart Lake for our first team race of 2013.  The race was an Olympic distance race with a swim of 1500 meters, a 28 mile bike, finished up with a hilly 10 km run.

20-24 mens age group
  • 14th place Matt Daleiden, 2:47:31
  • 17th place George Bernhardt 2:54:24
  • 21st place Curtis Floyd, 3:02:26

25-29 mens age group
  • 9th place Ryan Schmeling, 2:38:15

Great job guys!

The second race of the season was Big Foot triathlon in Lake Geneva.  This also was a Olympic distance with a 1500 meter swim, 23.7 miles, and 10 km trail run.  There were five guys that battled some strong head winds on some rough roads and made beat the heat on a muggy day on a muddy trail.

Great improvement in a short time, and way to push through the heat on not-so- ideal trail conditions!
